Rogers and Fallon Secure Defense Verdict in High-Stakes Medical Malpractice Case
Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP attorneys William J. Rogers and Ian P. Fallon secured a defense verdict at trial on behalf of their client, an orthopedic surgeon and his medical group, in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois. The three-week trial ended on January 26, 2024.
In the case, plaintiff alleged that the defendant improperly performed double knee replacements on the patient, and failed to properly anticoagulate. Plaintiff alleged that this caused a massive pulmonary embolus/blood clot, resulting in the patient’s death 24 hours after the orthopedic surgery. The decedent was survived by a wife and four daughters.
Plaintiff’s counsel asked the jury for $36 – 50 million. The case was tried before Judge Bridget Hughes.
