Weiler Receives Law Bulletin Media's Top 50 Women in Law Honor

Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP partner Catherine Basque Weiler was recognized by Law Bulletin Media at its second annual Salute! Top 50 Women in Law.

Fifty honorees were chosen for their work to mentor and promote other women in the profession, their success in the legal community and being a shining example of leadership. After receiving more than 500 nominations, honorees were screened by the Women’s Advisory Panel and then chosen by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer selection committee. Honorees were announced during a live webinar on June 30th and will be honored at a presentation ceremony at a later date.

Weiler serves as Swanson, Martin & Bell LLP’s Appellate and Critical Motions Practice Chair and is the public face of the firm’s appellate practice. In addition, she represents clients in state and federal trial courts through all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial, primarily defending malpractice, commercial, product and premises liability claims.

According to her profile, she is an officer of the Appellate Lawyers Association, beginning as treasurer and eventually progressing to president. She has also held leadership roles in, and been a longtime member of, the Women’s Bar Foundation; she is a member of the Chicago Inn of Court, the Seventh Circuit Bar Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association; and she was honored to be named one of Crain’s Chicago Business Notable Gen X Leaders In Law in 2019.
