Jack A. Gould

Jack is highly adept at finding crucial pieces of evidence to increase the strength of his clients’ cases at trial and challenge narratives presented by the opposing side.  He diligently works to create the leverage necessary to obtain exceptional results for clients in high-stakes cases, including through tracking down “needle in a haystack” rebuttal witnesses, taking effective fact and expert witness depositions, and distilling dense factual records and nuanced legal theories into compelling dispositive and procedural arguments in court.

Jack collaborates closely with clients throughout each phase of litigation to ensure the alignment of objectives and best possible outcomes.  He regularly provides prudent guidance to companies to help them minimize litigation and business risks, including on issues with national implications.  He also coordinates with and oversees counsel in other states to ensure that client needs are successfully met on a national level.

Jack is Co-Chair of the Tort Litigation Committee for the Chicago Bar Association.  He has repeatedly been selected by Best Lawyers in the “Ones to Watch” category and has regularly been named in SuperLawyers as a “Rising Star.”

Prior to joining Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP, Jack worked at a boutique civil defense firm in Chicago for several years where he gained extensive experience litigating a large caseload of mass tort cases for a major steel manufacturer as well as a chemical pipe manufacturer in various venues in Illinois. He has also engaged in criminal law work, including first and second chairing trials.
