Sheean, Keating Defeat Plaintiffs’ Motion for Class Certification in SkinnyGirl Margarita Case
Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP Partners Christopher T. Sheean and Richard J. Keating, Jr. defeated a plaintiffs’ motion for class certification last week in a lawsuit filed against the makers of SkinnyGirl Margarita and reality TV star Bethenny Frankel.
The lawsuit, filed in 2011 against firm clients Beam Spirits & Wine, Inc. and Ms. Frankel, alleged that the beverage was mislabeled as "all natural." A federal judge in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois determined that it would be too difficult to identify class members.
At Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP, Sheean chairs the Commercial Litigation Practice Group and focuses his practice on commercial, corporate and intellectual property litigation matters throughout the United States. Keating represents national and international corporations in tort liability litigation, premises liability defense, general liability matters, criminal defense, incident investigations, security issues, and wage garnishment claims.
