IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law Names Martin Alumnus of Distinction

Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP’s Kevin T. Martin was honored by IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law as one of its 125 Alumni of Distinction. Mr. Martin and fellow honorees were celebrated last month at the college’s 125th Anniversary Alumni of Distinction Dinner.

Martin, a founding and name partner at Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP, was chosen by a committee of alumni, faculty and staff through a year-long process that garnered more than 400 nominations. In conjunction with the college’s anniversary celebration, Chicago-Kent recognized “125 years of trailblazing, innovative and successful alumni who have helped shape the legal profession, given back to their communities and to the law school and helped raise the profile of Chicago-Kent on a global level,” per event materials. Chicago-Kent’s Alumni of Distinction include lawyers, legislators, civic leaders, entrepreneurs and journalists.

Martin, who received his J.D. from Chicago-Kent in 1967, has remained involved with his alma mater since graduation. He served as president of the Alumni Association in 1985-1986 and was a member of the Board of Overseers from 1986 to 1999. In 1989, the Board of Overseers honored Martin with its Distinguished Service Award.

Martin has over 45 years of civil litigation trial experience, particularly in defense of professionals in the fields of law and medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers as well as a member of the National Board of Directors of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Martin also became a certified mediator in 2009.
