Becker Named to 2023 Billboard Magazine's Top Music Lawyers List
Billboard Magazine named Jeffrey S. Becker, Partner, and Chair of Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP's Entertainment and Media Law Practice Group, to its 2023 Top Music Lawyers list. This prestigious list honors prominent music and entertainment attorneys handling the industry's most significant legal battles and deals nationwide. Becker is one of only a few attorneys in the Midwest named to this year's list.
Billboard recognized Becker for his representation of Grammy-winning poet J. Ivy, singer-songwriter Natalie Jane, music counsel for Shaquille O'Neal, and the estate of NFL great Walter Payton (name and likeness rights). Becker recently also signed producer Dru DeCaro to Position Music.
Becker founded the firm's Entertainment and Media Law Practice Group in 2013. His clients include Grammy Award-winning musicians, producers and songwriters, publishers and record labels, professional athletes, authors, independent filmmakers, and other creative individuals and entertainment-related businesses.
Becker is active in numerous industry organizations. He is currently secretary on the Recording Academy's Board of Governors for the Chicago Chapter and co-chair of its Legislative Advocacy Committee. Becker is a graduate of DePaul University College of Law, where he currently serves as an adjunct professor of music law, and Illinois Wesleyan University.
