Catherine Basque Weiler Named Secretary of the Illinois Appellate Lawyers Association
Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP partner Catherine Basque Weiler was appointed Secretary of the Appellate Lawyers Association (ALA) following ALA's Annual Meeting and installation ceremony on June 30. Catherine will serve as Secretary alongside ALA President Jonathan Amarillo, VP Marron Mahoney, and Treasurer Seth Horvath. She will continue progressing through the officer ranks until she serves as ALA president in a couple of years.
Catherine, who chairs the firm's Appellate Practice group, has been a long-time active participant of ALA. She also serves as co-chair of the Cases Pending Committee and is a committee member of the Moot Court Committee.
The Appellate Lawyers Association is dedicated to facilitating closer and more effective liaisons between lawyers in private practice and the public sector appearing in the appellate courts, the appellate bench, and the legislature, as well as improving the standards of quality and competence in the preparation of cases on appeal and promoting the exchange of ideas and discussion of appellate law.
