Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP announces the arrival of partner John J. Duffy to the firm’s Chicago office.Duffy’s practice focuses on the defense of attorneys and law firms accused of malpractice or accused of ethical violations. In the last five years, Duffy has tried to verdict five legal malpractice cases and obtained five defense verdicts. Duffy has also handled complex product liability claims involving injuries to hundreds of individuals. Formerly he was a partner at Donohue Brown Mathewson & Smyth, LLC in Chicago.
Duffy has been a Super Lawyer and Leading Lawyer for over 10 consecutive years. He has twice been an invited speaker at the American Bar Association’s National Legal Malpractice Conference and has spoken at client seminars. Duffy is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, previously chairing its Legal Malpractice Committee, the Illinois State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He received his J.D. in 1994 from Loyola University School of Law and his B.A. in 1990 from the University of Iowa.
