Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP will host an event titled “Musical Works & Sound Recordings: Demystifying Copyright Law” in partnership with the Chicago Chapter of Women In Music (WIM) on May 8, 2025.
Michelle M. Wahl, Partner and Co-Chair of the firm’s Entertainment and Media Practice Group, will lead the interactive discussion, which will focus on key topics such as copyright ownership, the distinctions between musical and sound recording copyrights, collaboration agreements, works-made-for-hire, and principles of fair use. The event is designed for experienced and upcoming artists, songwriters, producers, and industry professionals, providing them with the knowledge needed to safeguard intellectual property and confidently navigate legal challenges.
