Reveille and Charles Secure Defense Verdict for Client in Multi-Defendant Medical Negligence Case
Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP attorneys Kristine C. Reveille and Rebecca Charles secured a defense verdict at trial on behalf of their client, a radiologist, in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois.
In this case, the plaintiff, a 22-year-old male at the time of treatment, alleged that the defendant radiologist failed to diagnose and report a bowel obstruction on a CT of the abdomen and pelvis.
At trial, Plaintiff’s counsel claimed he underwent a small bowel resection, losing more than 7 feet of small bowel as a result of the alleged negligence, and is continually suffering from the effects of the small bowel resection.
In response, the defense effectively argued that there was no evidence of a small bowel obstruction on the CT scan, and the alleged failure to recognize and report that finding did not cause or contribute to cause plaintiff’s injuries and damages.
Plaintiff asked the jury for $5 million. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty for all the defendants. The case was tried before Judge Bridget J. Hughes.
