Troy M. Sphar

Biography

Troy Sphar is a partner at Swanson, Martin & Bell, LLP practicing in both the Commercial Litigation and Business Disputes Group and the Employment Litigation and Counseling Group. Troy focuses his practice on advising employers and individuals on employment matters including restrictive covenants, confidentiality agreements, trade secret protection, termination decisions, employee manuals and best employment practices. Troy has represented both employers and employees in matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Illinois Department of Human Rights, Illinois Department of Labor and the United States Department of Labor and has litigated employment matters before the Illinois State Courts and United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois including disputes concerning unlawful discrimination, harassment, privacy issues, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Illinois Wage Payment Act, wrongful and retaliatory discharge, commission disputes, restrictive covenants and union pension and dues disputes.

In addition, Troy counsels closely held businesses on a variety of business and employment issues, including incorporation, best business practices, contract drafting, disciplinary and termination decisions, and third-party contract negotiations. He has also represented individuals and businesses in a variety of litigation disputes, including contract claims, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, trade secret misappropriation matters and other business torts.
