Robert E. Haley

Biography

Robert E. Haley is a partner at Swanson, Martin & Bell LLP. He is an experienced trial attorney with a broad background in tort litigation. He has argued cases in the appellate courts of Illinois and the Seventh Circuit. His practice includes aviation law, toxic torts, product liability, pharmaceuticals, construction and premises matters and commercial disputes. He has represented numerous domestic and international airlines in personal injury and cargo litigation. This representation included both state court and federal multi-district litigation resulting from major airline crashes. He has represented clients in general aviation matters, including manufacturers of engines and aircraft component parts, as well as aircraft maintenance facilities.

Robert has served as national counsel in toxic tort matters, managing the asbestos litigation for a product manufacturer with cases pending across the country. He has also represented product manufacturers in asbestos litigation from the late 1980’s to the present.

As part of the due diligence required by clients engaging in the purchase or sale of corporations or businesses, he directed and participated in litigation audits of personal injury and other litigation claims, providing analysis used by management to evaluate potential liabilities. In one such audit, he led a team of attorneys evaluating all of the aviation claims pending against a large general aviation aircraft manufacturer. He also conducted audits to establish or reorganize case management programs.
